Karwendel

Back in the Alps! It seems to become traditional to do some winter hikes, and this time my destination was the Karwendel region in northern Austria. Rivers like the Isar have cut deep canyons into these limestone mountains, allowing the mountaineer to slide on vast fields of rubble on top (fun!) and through icy gorges at the bottom (not so fun). Arnspitze and Hoher Gleirsch remain on the todo-list as a result of too much snow on the northern slopes. Nonetheless, especially the latter one looked very inviting, as the last pictures show.
