Lofoten

This voyage was basically a combination of all the previous ones: Islands with steep mountains? Check. Sunny shores with bright beaches? Check. Ghastly weather? Rain? Snow? Triple-Check.

I started in VesterĂ¥len, an archipelago at the norwegian coast, about 220 kilometers north of the polar circle. From there, I zigzagged my way across the Lofoten Islands, climbing mountains growing ever steeper and craggier as I moved south. I camped beside placid mountain lakes and a turquoise sea, falling asleep in an endless dusk, only to awake in nerve-wracking storms or surrounded by clouds heavy with rain. Norway certainly is among the most beautiful places I travelled to, and one I shall return to someday.
