Back to the Alps in winter, and they did not disappoint: Knee-deep snow made hiking a struggle and summits impossible to reach. This was the first time I had to put on snowshoes in December and choose lower mountains for safe routes – but I had plenty of photo opportunities nonetheless while exploring the area around Elmau, beneath the imposing ridge of the Wetterspitzen.
